NAVIPPRO surveillance combines both proprietary and public data sources to provide a comprehensive and scientifically valid assessment of a product’s abuse potential. Three proprietary data sources the ASI-MV® Connect, Comprehensive Health Assessment for Teens (CHAT®), and Web Informed Services (WISTM): Internet Monitoring, Surveys on Prescription Drug Misuse and Media-GRIIDTM are the cornerstones of the NAVIPPRO surveillance system.
Inflexxion’s premiere data source, the ASI-MV Connect systematically collects data in real-time from a national network of over 500 substance abuse treatment centers. The ASI-MV Connect is a self-administered patient assessment tools that gather product-specific information on prescription drugs, including how the product was obtained and the routes of administration. These data are immediately uploaded to Inflexxion’s secure database and can then be analyzed to show a temporal and spatial picture of where in the US particular products are being abused.
Inflexxion recently added CHAT as an additional data source. CHAT is a behavioral health assessment tool designed for us with clients ages 13-18. CHAT is a self administered tool that gathers information, and is modeled after the ASI-MV Connect.
NAVIPPRO’s Web Informed Services (WIS) comprises continuous monitoring of information from the Internet, such as discussion forums, news reports, and focused Internet surveys. These data sources provide a picture of abuse and misuse of prescription drugs among a “leading edge” population of abusers and allow for timely detection of media events that may shape public perceptions and/or lead to regulatory actions.
- WIS Internet Monitoring leverages state-of-the-art technology and scientific methodology for harvesting and analyzing the content of internet discussion pertaining to prescription drugs.
- WIS Internet Surveys obtain information that can be used to characterize prescription drug abuse among high risk-populations.
- WIS Media-GRIID (Geospatial Real-time Internet-based Intelligence for Drugs) automatically gathers news reports mentioning prescription drug-related events. This multi-stream, multilingual, real-time public health intelligence platform enables Inflexxion to monitor, visualize and disseminate media-generated information about pharmaceutical products.
NAVIPPRO incorporates complementary information from multiple public and newswire sources:
- American Association of Poison Control Centers’ New Core System Database (NCSBeta)
- FDA-Adverse Event Reporting System (AERS)
- Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN Live!)
